What to Expect
At Nexus AT, we aim to make every stage of your care clear, comfortable, and well organised. This is an overview of what you can expect before and during each appointment type.
-
Prior to your appointment, you will be provided with a secure link where you can upload important information, including:
• Relevant medical conditions related to the services you are seeking
• The type of service or device you would like to be assessed for
• Basic funding details
• Any supporting documentation, if available
This information helps us prepare for your appointment and ensures we can provide a more personalised and efficient assessment.
-
The initial consultation is our clinic onboarding appointment.
During this appointment, we take the time to understand your current condition, goals, motivations, daily challenges, and the outcomes you are hoping to achieve. This allows us to tailor our recommendations to your individual needs.
Where required, we may also:
• Record relevant measurements
• Conduct physical assessments
• Observe walking patterns
• Assess in-home mobility tasks
• Review your current device, if applicable
• Discuss your functional needs and lifestyle requirements
Following the assessment, we will discuss potential therapy and device options for you to consider while funding approvals are being obtained.
-
Once funding approval and required deposits have been received, we will arrange a casting appointment.
Depending on the device's complexity, this appointment may take a couple of hours. During this session, we may repeat measurements and assessments completed during the initial consultation to ensure accuracy and consistency.
The appointment will then involve casting or scanning, where appropriate, for the custom device you have selected.
This step is important to ensure your device is designed to suit your body, function, goals, and clinical needs.
-
During the fitting appointment, we will fit your selected device. This may be a custom-made device or a generally manufactured device, depending on your needs and the recommendations discussed during your previous appointments.
You will be asked to repeat some of the earlier assessments to confirm:
• The fit of the device
• Comfort and alignment
• Function and mobility
• Safety during use
• Whether any adjustments are required
Minor modifications for fitting may be completed by the clinician during the appointment.
You will also receive a large amount of information, including verbal instructions, demonstrations, and written guidance. This can sometimes feel overwhelming. For this reason, we recommend having a support person present, such as a family member, carer, or friend, even if you feel confident managing the information independently.
At Nexus AT, we work at a pace that is comfortable for each client. We allocate more time than is typically required for appointments to ensure high standards of care, safety, and service delivery.
-
A service appointment is a general consultation for ongoing care, review, and management of both the client and their device.
These appointments are available for existing Nexus AT clients and are typically shorter than other appointments. They are commonly used to:
• Review the fit of a device
• Check comfort and function
• Make minor adjustments
• Complete minor repairs
• Monitor changes in condition or mobility
• Provide ongoing support and education
Due to the nature of home-based visits, some repairs or modifications may require the device to be taken off-site for a period. Once the work is complete, we will arrange a suitable appointment.
The length of a service appointment depends on whether modifications are required and the extent of the work needed.
-
At Nexus AT, we are committed to providing the highest standards of care, professionalism, and service to our clients.
We make every effort to ensure clients can secure appointments that meet their needs, and we endeavour to offer clinic appointments at the earliest available time.
To help us support all clients effectively, please notify us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment at any of our clinics. Providing advance notice allows us to offer the appointment time to another client who may be waiting for care.
A cancellation fee may apply for appointments that are:
• Not attended without prior notice
• Cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice
The cancellation fee will be charged at a minimum rate for that appointment.
We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise and may prevent clients from attending scheduled appointments. If you become aware that you are unable to attend your appointment, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss rescheduling. Nexus AT acts in “good faith” for all reasonable circumstances and timeframes for appointment cancellations.
Any enquiries regarding the Nexus AT Cancellation Policy should be directed to info@nexusat.com.au.
